West Brom and Stoke City are interested in a move for Queen’s Park winger Aiden McGinlay, according to a report by TEAMtalk.

West Brom and Stoke City are the latest two sides to be linked with a swoop for the prospect in the upcoming transfer window. The Championship pair could see him as one for the future as they eye up additions for the next couple of months.

McGinlay, 17, is being tipped for a bright future in the game and Queen’s Park could face a real battle to keep hold of him amid interest from below the border. He is a Scotland youth international.

In this latest update regarding his situation, TEAMtalk claim the Baggies and the Potters are leading the chase for his signature. The Daily Record reported earlier this week that Norwich City, Premier League new boys Ipswich Town and Scottish champions Celtic are admirers of him too.

Who is this?

West Brom and Stoke City eye attacker

McGinlay has caught the eye playing for Queen’s Park’s Under-18’s this past season, as well as their development side.

He joined the Glasgow outfit back in January from Partick Thistle and hasn’t looked back since.

The prospect is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Scottish Championship outfit. They finished 8th in the table this past term.

He is still on scholarship terms with the Spiders and they face competition to tie him down to a professional contract now which isn’t ideal as his head could be turned by bigger teams.

West Brom’s focus right now is on getting into the play-off final and they face Southampton at the semi-finals stage. Their form has stuttered over recent weeks but they managed to cement their place in the top six on the final day after beating Preston North End 3-0 at the Hawthorns.

As for Stoke City, they secured their second tier status in the end under ex-Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher and have a busy summer ahead now as they look to bolster their ranks.

What next for West Brom and Stoke City?

McGinley could be seen by both West Brom and Stoke City as a potential future star. He would likely link up with their respective youth sides with a view to break into their senior team down the line.

It is hard for the Baggies to make transfer plans as they don’t know what league they will be in.

It is easier for the Potters though and they can start identifying targets already.
